The Board of Directors of CCHEE were pleased to host the inaugural presentation of the Caribbean Heart Health Education (CCHHE) Scholarship in conjunction with CCHHE’s Heart Health Gala Dinner held on Saturday, April 19, 2024, at the Heart Health Gala at Canad Inns Polo Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

These scholarships were designed to foster the next generation of leaders from the Caribbean or of Caribbean heritage with a declared interest in health as a career.

The inaugural CCHHE Scholarship Awards marked a significant milestone in supporting and recognizing the dedication of students pursuing careers in health. This prestigious event celebrated the achievements of the first-ever scholarship recipients, within the Winnipeg Caribbean community who have shown exceptional promise.

For 2024, two scholarships were presented. The 2024 award winners were:

Sophia Gaiadeen and Anandee Jagdeo.

Both awardees were presented with a plaque and a cheque in recognition of their outstanding academic performance, and commitment to making a positive impact in healthcare for Manitobans.

Sophia is currently enrolled in the Faculty of Science’s Undergraduate program at the University of Manitoba, where she is furthering her education and research in science and health. Anandee  is pursuing a career in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (Echocardiography) at Red River College Polytech, a program that will prepare her to contribute directly to heart health diagnostics and care.

With a focus on community health and education, the CCHHE Scholarship is helping shape the future of heart health, ensuring that the next generation of health professionals is equipped with the tools and knowledge to make a lasting difference.

As the Caribbean Heart Health Scholarship continues to grow, we look forward to seeing the lasting impact of these brilliant students as they pave the way for future careers that will positively affect the health outcomes for Manitobans.
